Now we've just seen a demonstration of the nature of online communications.
The dominant techno-utopian narrative is that networks connect people and bring them together. Sometimes they do, but they also fragment and reinforce isolation. For me "you just don't get it!!" is very emblematic of this.
Computer mediated communications are really forgiving to rampant egotists. Weblogs are particularly prone to this. Notice how many Comments sections get turned off when the authors don't like what they hear back. This is no conversation - it's a monolog. Perhaps this is why the medium attracts people who don't like being contradicted. But where does it leave us?
